Rheumatioid arthritus (rheumatory arthritis) - rheumatoid diagnose

Rheumatiod arthritis (rheumatory arthritus) has a higher coincidence in the ages of twenty to forty but it can break out in other age groups as well and it is connected to the HLA marker no DR4, while the W10 is protective.

It is therefore of significance to evaluate the family history during diagnose of rheumatory arthritis. Hereditary risk factors are of vital importance to the clinical progression of the disease as well as the choice of the appropriate medication. Rumatory arthritis is also more common in female patients than in males, the difference is a factor 1:3. Even larger factoral difference has been established between smokers and non smokers, there is a factor four greater risk of developing reumatory arthritis for smokers.

Risk factors for rheumatory arthritis

There are several risk factors that can eventually trigger or release rheumetoid (rhumitoid) arthritis:

Rheumatiod arthritis diagnose

Rheumatioid arthritus is normally diagnosed according to internationally agreed standards. Through the international standardization, comparisons between regions, countries and populations has been simplified and statistics are now more reliable across the world.

The global rate of rheumatory arthritis seems to be in the region of slightly below 1% of the general poulation (latest surveys shows around 0.8%). RA, or rhrumotoid arthritis can be found anywhere in the world, in anyt climate zone and among different ethnical groups to varying levels. It seems that the condition is more frequent around 50 years of average age, contrary to previous belief.

Differencies between young and old are not big when looking at the progression and intensity of rheumetoid arthiritis, at least if evaluating the early stages of the condition. RA seems to be more common in women.

Causes of rhumitoid (rheumatoid) arthritis

As rhuematoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, it means that the immune system attacks itself when it believes that the joints are under attack by something and it decides to send in the killer cells to take care of the threat. This malfunction unfortunately attacks healthy joints and particularly the synovium which is the lining tissue in the joint itself. Why this malfunction happens is still relatively unknown although research is very intense in this area especially on the genetic factor component that may have something to do with it but also on ommune factors involved in the progression of rheumatoid arthritis.

As a result of this new rhuematoid research, there has been some very interesting and promising drugs developed in the last few years. These rheumatiod medicines are the TNF blockers which are trying to intercept the signals from the immune system sending out and controlling the "killer cells". This is a bit like jamming radio communication with enemy troops and this seem to control and contain much of the rheumatiod arthritus symptoms causing the actual damages to the joints.

Symptoms of rheumatiod arthritus

Rheumatiod arthritus symptoms are typically joint pain and stiffness initially, later followed by reduction in the joint functionality. The condition will often start slowly and progress in stages of activity with dormant or low periods in between. In some cases more severe, the RA can be almost constantly active. The first joints to be affected are normally the minor joints (fingers, toes, feet etc) but in the later stages it is quite common that also the major joints (knees, shoulders etc) are affected. With active rhreumatoid arthritis the patient often suffers from morning stiffness that can last for one or several hours, or in severe cases throughout the day. Rumatory arthritus may also show up with a more vague feeling of fatigue that can sometimes be the effect of a low Hb (blood value). Rheumatory arthritis (rheumotory arthrities) is a condition in where your own immune system starts to malfunction and attack the joints in your body. There are several different versions of the rhumatory arthiritis conditions, some affecting minor joints, and others affecting major joints but as the rheumotoid arthritus progresses, it will likely affect and destroy both minor and major joints unless treated with blocking medicines such as the rumatory TNF blockers.
